Raft: How to Set Up an Electric Purifier

The electric purifier is the third and final way for players to generate water, but it's not as mobile as other purifiers thanks to its requirements.

Fresh water is an essential resource in Raft. Not only does the player need to drink water regularly, but they also need it to grow crops and grass plots. That's why a simple purifier is one of the first objects players should build.

The simple purifier is available immediately, and after Raft players build the research table, they can construct an advanced purifier that handles five units of water at once. However, the best model is the electric purifier, which players can only research after visiting the story island Tangaroa. This model can process and hold 15 cups of water at once, but in exchange, the requirements to build and place it are stricter.

The electric purifier costs 20 plastic, 5 scrap, 4 titanium ingots, and 1 circuit board. It takes up around one and a half squares, which means it needs two squares to sit on, but one square can be a collection net. Despite this unusual size, if players remove either square, the electric purifier will disappear.

This purifier also needs clear access to water. This means players have to place it on the foundation level with one side next to open water. Players can set the purifier on the edge of the raft, but if they do so, they should make sure they armor the foundation first. Sharks have no trouble attacking the foundations the purifier sits on. Players can also avoid this problem by creating a hole in the middle of the raft and setting the purifier next to it. Finally, as the name implies, electric purifiers need a battery to run.

Once the purifier has met every requirement, it will run automatically until it fills up the attached tank, and any time the tank empties, it will run again until the tank fills back up. Players can see how full the tank is by looking at a blue gauge on the side.

Another way the electric purifier helps with automation is with water pipes. Players can also find the water pipe blueprint on Tangaroa, and these pipes work the same way as the fuel pipes found on Balboa Island. The only difference is that these pipes work with the electric purifier, the water tank, and the sprinkler.

By using these pipes, players can send purified water directly to water tanks for storage or to sprinklers for use on crop and grass plots. Players will still need to keep track of the battery life of their sprinklers and purifiers, but if they do, they'll always have a plentiful water supply on their raft.

Raft is available now on PC.
